Getting Started in Coaching a Cricket Team
6 hours, non-examinable

This course is designed for the coach, parent, teacher or volunteer involved with organizing and coaching 9-18 year old cricketers. It is particularly focused on the Year 4-6 level with the introduction into hard-ball cricket but also caters for the beginner coach of older age groups. The course covers the basic techniques of batting, bowling, fielding and wicketkeeping as well as how to effectively coach a conventional 11-a-side team

This course is designed for the parents and coaches of children involved in the MILO Have-a-Go Cricket programme. This is the programme run primarily by clubs for 5-7 year olds, introducing these first-time cricketers to the game with an emphasis on fun, participation and skill development. The coaching course teaches the coaches how to run the programme effectively and comes with a free MILO Have-a-Go coaching manual.

The Getting Started in Coaching a Cricket Team course is the third step on the New Zealand Cricket coach's pathway. It is ideally suited for beginner coaches who are taking a junior 11-a-side cricket team, particularly at the initial hard-ball stage. It comes after the MILO Kiwi Cricket Coaching course on the coach's pathway and is also a pre-requisite to attending a Level One coaching course.
Each participant on the Getting Started course will receive a Course Manual. Auckland Cricket recognises the huge impact that good coaching has on the enjoyment and success that young cricketers get from the game. The Getting Started in Coaching a Cricket Team qualification is an important step to developing good coaches and will give you a good basis.

This year we are offering 6 courses through the mid season, winter and pre-season period. Registration and payment must be made at least 1 week prior to the start of the course. (Max no. of 16 people on a course). It is a prerequisite for the Level One course.
The dates for upcoming courses can be found on www.aucklandcricket.co.nz

Course cost is $20 per person which includes all course materials.
