Annapurna base camp is a great choice if you are wanting a bit more than Ghorepani poon hill trek but don't have the time for annapurna circuit trek or inclination for a longer trip.
The trek start an hour drive to Nayapul from Pokhara and we spend a good part of the exploring the local trails, through forests, villages and terraced farmland treats you to unparalleled mountain scenery, narrow valley, surrounded by enormous glaciers giving you an inside experience into the Nepalese life and culture.

We take the West trail towards Ghorepani, a trading village situated at an elevation of 2800 m., where there is a tremendous vantage point (Poon hill - 3210 m.) to view both the Dhaulagiri and Annapurna mountain. The views at sunrise from Poon hill are simply stunning. From Ghorepani, the trail leads East to the hamlet of Tadapani and on towards Chhomrong, from where we commence our journey into the Annapurna Sanctuary and onwards to Annapurna Base Camp. Which is the last destination of our journey. The journey to base camp follows the Modi River valley in between the huge ramparts of Himchuli & Machhapuchhre, eventually emerging into an awesome Amphitheater, where a labyrinth of mountains and Annapurna I tower almost vertically above us.
We set up camp at a great spot on the top of the Ghorepani, Tadapani and Sanctuary where we enjoy stunning sunrise and sunsets and inspiring views of the entire valley including the best panoramic view of Dhaulagiri and Annapurna, Icefall, Annpurna Glacier , 360 degree majestic view of Annappurna and fishtail . You can touch the mountain.

This is a great opportunity for bird watching too! In fact it's one of the best trips we do for seeing Spiny Babbler (Turdoides nipalensis). It is a rare species only find in nepal.
Annapurna base camp trek starts and ends in Pokhara. The 10 day hike is a popular or it can be tailored as part of the Annapurna Circuit or the Jomsom / Miktinath trek, by trekking from Tatopani through Ghorepani and Tadapani and joining the main Sanctuary trails at Chommrong if you want the chance to experience a more wilderness setting than is possible.
