The DX-DVDm is designed to work as a standalone device or in combination with the DX-CD2. The CRI Manual DVD Splitter separates the two 0.6mm bonded layers of a standard 4.7GB DVD disc into two halves. By inserting a standard DVD disc into the DX-DVDm and pressing the edge into the patented splitter, the disc separates at the edge. By then rotating the DVD, the separation continues until the entire disc is separated. This process takes only a few seconds and at this point it would be very difficult to take any useful data from the separated pieces. The separated pieces of the DVD can be inserted in the DX-CD2 to grind the data layer of the DVD disc into a powder with 100% removal of the data layer. This Tier 5 process is suitable for highly sensitive data. The DX-DVDm splitter is being submitted for evaluation by the National Security Agency on their NSA/CSS 04-02 Evaluated Products list to complement the DX-CD2 for DVD-R/RW and DVD-ROM media destruction of classified data.
