The True Vine Papal Cross

This very latest introduction is from the popular and collectable Royal Crown Derby – Old Imari - Giftware product range.

This very special True Vine Papal Cross – is launched by Royal Crown Derby to commemorate the papal visit of Pope Benedict XV1 to the United Kingdom. Pope Benedict will visit first Scotland and then England between the 16th – 19th September 2010.

The True Vine Papal Cross is issued as a special edition with a numbered certificate, in honour of the Papal visit to the UK in September 2010. Designer June Branscombe has designed this magical new piece in a pallet of rich gold and cream. A subtly raised paste design graces the simple elegant form of this pure white Royal Crown Derby china cross. The decoration is a visual interpretation of the crucifixion as found in The King James Bible, specifically the Gospels of St. John (Chapter 15), and St. Luke (Chapter 24) and includes references to the events of the time - palm leaves, the Crown of Thorn and the three nails.

Please note the final piece may differ slightly in decoration from the photograph. I hope you like it, we do. Height 7 ¾ inches (20cm). Royal Crown Derby Code: DCOMME61335.

This product normally costs GBP245.00 including VAT but our introduction price is discounted for a limited period only to GBP196.00 including VAT @ 17.5% and free shipping worldwide.

Pope Benedict XV1 Itinerary
Pope Benedict XVI will visit England and Scotland on a four-day Papal visit from 16-19 September 2010. In addition to the detailed event information below, there will be opportunities to see the Holy Father in Edinburgh and London travelling the streets in the Popemobile. The finalised routes will be released in due course.

16th September
When Pope Benedict arrives in the UK, he will visit Scotland where he will be received by Her Majesty The Queen in the Palace of Holyrood House in Edinburgh. Having met the Queen, the Pope will travel to Glasgow where he will celebrate an open-air Mass at Bellahouston Park in the evening.

17th September
On the second day the Holy Father is going to St Mary's University College, Twickenham, where he will pray with representatives of religious congregations - particularly those who have a charism for education. He will meet 3,000 young people to celebrate Catholic education and, later, the leaders of other religions. The Pope will also meet with the Archbishop of Canterbury and, as part of the State visit, address the British society.

18th September
On the third day of the visit, Pope Benedict will celebrate Mass in Westminster Cathedral where he will also greet the people of Wales. Later in the day he will visit a home for older people and then be present at an open-air Vigil of prayer in London's Hyde Park.

19th September
The final day of the visit is focused very much on the beautification of Cardinal John Henry Newman, and the Pope will celebrate that beautification in Cofton Park in Birmingham - adjacent, fittingly, to Rednal where Cardinal Newman was buried. Pope Benedict will conclude the day by meeting with the bishops of England, Scotland and Wales in Oscott College.
