Details

This innovative event blends the traditional with the modern in a sweeping two-part competition that provides a venue for artists in various ethnic communities to showcase their talents before a mainstream American audience.

In any country of the world, creative talent holds an essential niche in society and the economy, providing employment to a significant part of the population that helps to maintain social stability in a society and motivate people to succeed in life. The wide array of ethnic communities populations in the greater West area are filled with talent that reflects the values and traditions of diverse national cultures that are not often given the limelight in mainstream America.

The Festival “Apollo’s Muse” celebrates these ethnically diverse artists in the context of American society and gives them the opportunity to showcase their talents on a grand scale in Las Vegas and Hollywood. Whether their performances reflect the influences of popular, modern culture or of legacies tied to tradition, all emerging and established artists are welcome to apply. International performers as well as those from any state or region in the US are encouraged to submit entries.

The International Festival “Apollo’s Muse” is an ongoing process with a new competition cycle beginning approximately every six months. Applications are currently being accepted until September 30, 2011, for the first round which finishes in December 2011 with a gala ceremony in Las Vegas. Once that round is underway, applications will be accepted October 1, 2011 through January 31, 2012 for the new cycle. That contest will conclude in Hollywood during the summer of 2012.

In each competition, up to 5000 performers artists will be given a chance in the spotlight. The most inspirational “Muse-like” of these performers will be rewarded for their skills, creativity, and passion in their respective categories: music, dance, vocal performance, theatrical presentations and original genre.

A PANEL JURY
A Panel Jury of up to five members is selected from a pool of resumes submitted by professionals in the respective art field, Festival Producer and other staff, or Artistes. The Panel Jury will be different in each artistic genre (music, dance, vocal performance, theatrical presentations, and original arts). Individuals chosen may include, but are not limited to, artists, designers, arts professionals, and arts advocates. Consideration is given to the potential Jury member’s level of expertise, gender, geographic and ethnic representation, and other demographics.

THE FESTIVAL “APOLLO’S MUSE” IS ENCOURAGING THE DEVELOPMENT OF CREATIVE ABILITIES IN CHILDREN AND YOUTH.

Even in Hollywood, the world’s entertainment capital, there is very little support for child and teenage performers. The young performer’s competition portion of the International Festival “Apollo’s Muse” addresses this deficiency by encouraging the development of creative abilities in children and youth, by providing an outlet for their self-expression, and by showcasing their talents within the context of their own ethnic communities as a part of American culture.

Their performances will reach a wide audience and the taping of their work as part of the International Review will result in a professional marketing tool they can use to further their budding careers, whether in Hollywood or internationally.
Statistical data attests that more than half of all the world’s children are born with strong creative abilities. Two percent of the populations statistically are potential geniuses, possessing very high endowments from birth in several areas at once; fifteen percent have strong abilities in any one area - music, mathematics, painting, etc., and more than twenty percent are born with talent that can become extremely high professional skill with appropriate training. Despite these optimistic numbers, throughout all of history no more than two thousand people have been considered “geniuses.”

Out of 1000 people with this score, the genius possibility will be extinguished in 999 of them due to unsatisfactory social and economic conditions of development. If 1000 people with this score do begin to develop their natural abilities, 999 of them will be ultimately discouraged at some stage of realization. These potential needs to be better safeguarded and nurtured in talented young people.

ARTISTES- PARTNERS
There are two types of artistes participating in the festival. One Performer is the Artiste who will actually perform in the Festival: the musician, dancer, singer, actor, or original artiste. The performer can be an individual or group performing as one unit. Two or more Artiste-Partners any non-performer attending Festival events with an Artiste, these can be: colleagues of the Performer, i.e. other musicians, dancers, singers, actors, or art performers; organizations, agencies, studios, or educational institutions with which the performer works; parents or guardians of young performer Artistes; industry professionals such as specialists in lighting or sound, hair, make-up, wardrobe, etc. that are involved directly in the Artiste’s performance.

STRUCTURE
Our project activities include: application process, initial screening, international review, media blitz, talent festival and gala award ceremony for competition artists.

APPLICATION PROCESS
Each applicant must provide the International Review “Apollo’s Muse” with a “press kit” that includes at minimum a short personality profile/biography (250 words maximum), a resume highlighting the applicant’s background and relevant professional experience, and a media presentation, not necessarily professionally prepared, of the applicant performing. The presentation may be videotape, DVD, CD, audiotape, slides, or photographs of performances. All application materials submitted form the Panel Jury’s basis for an initial evaluation.

INITIAL SCREENING
The application materials will be reviewed on a rolling basis to choose up to 1000 Artistes in each category (music, dance, vocal performance, theatrical presentations, and original genre) for a maximum of 5000 who will perform before a Panel Jury in the first round of the event, the International Review, and before an audience in the second round of the event, the Talent Festival. Once the number of applicants passing the initial screening in each category reaches 1000, applications from additional performers will be held until the next competition cycle. Artistes will be divided by experience levels into one of three categories: advanced, intermediate, and basic.

INTERNATIONAL REVIEW
Performing artists who complete the application process and pass the initial screening will be invited to give two performances before a high caliber Panel Jury as part of the International Review portion of the competition on-line. The Panel Jury will choose one of those two presentations for inclusion in the Talent Festival part of the event.

MEDIA BLITZ
The Festival Producers will organize an extensive press campaign to promote both the individual performers and the Festival as a whole. Press releases announcing the competition and profiling the Artistes will be widely distributed to sponsors, accredited mass media outlets, producers, and recording studios.

GALA AWARDS CEREMONY
All 5000 Artistes will be invited to attend the Gala Awards Ceremony. Exact dates and locations will be announced within a month after each application submission period has ended. Artistes will not know their point totals or “Golden Brick” tallies until the “Top 100” and “Top 10” semi-finalists are announced at the Gala Awards Ceremony. The two out of these “Top 10,” artists in each genre (music, dance, vocal performance, theatrical presentations, and original performers) who have garnered the heaviest “Golden Bricks” will win the title “Apollo’s Muse”.
