FAQ:

Q: Is Orphek is Chinese company?
A: NO. 80% of the product’s components are imported from different countries, including the LEDs, the acrylic board and he power supply pieces.
Although the products are assembled in Hong Kong,
Orphek is an Israel based company.

Q: Is Orphek a brand new company?
A: NO. Our product was develop relying on more than 2 year of corals grew research.
Testing all kinds of LED lights, Orphek finally launched its website in 2010, although it has been selling Light Solutions previously.

Q: Does Orphek use Cree Led?
A: NO. Although Cree company offers good products LEDs but they are home light solutions, not suitable for aquarium. Cree LEDs reach not more than 10000K. Companies offering aquarium light solutions are using Cree LEDs by mixing 50% of white LED and 50% of blue LED, to get 14000K to 20000K, to simulate HID light color. But lets take under consideration that, by using white Cree LED of 8000K, which gives 130 Lm /w, and blue Cree LED, which gives only 15 Lm/w, the total amount of lumens per watt reached will be only 72 LM/w. In this case, you are missing the point here!

Q: So what is the ratio that Orphek use?
A: Orphek combines 76% of White LEDS and 23% of Blue LEDs. Orphek’s white LED of 16000K, reaching the maximum of 180LM,
So when using 76% of 16000k white LED, we won’t need to use the ratio offered by others using Cree Leds (50% white LED and 50% blue LED).
So, in the end we reach more Lumens per watt! And this is exactly why we don’t use Cree LEDs in our Light Solutions!

Q: What is Orphek’s LED supplier?
A: Every company holds a secrecy policy about suppliers. We are very sorry but we decided not to give this information for moment.

Q: Does Orphek Solutions use lens?
A:YES. We use lens of 90º to achieve the best penetration, and to focus the light into the aquarium space, so light will not disperse from the previous determined range area.

Q:Can Orphek Light Solutions replace HID 400W?
A:YES. Orphek Light Solutions are designed to replace one light of 250w to 400w, from 14000K to 20000k, and not only provide your corals optimized growth, but also enhance the colors in an exclusive way!

Q: What kind of power supply does Orphek Light Solutions use?
A: Power supplies are very important to achieve the right amount of Kelvin, and the maximum output of the LED light.
A good power supply also has to protect the LEDs. Knowing that corals can’t live and grow without light, we chose one of the best power suppliers we know. Following our secrecy policy for suppliers, we cannot disclose the name of the company at this moment, but we can offer you the following information: Our power supply is, constant current.
Our power supply is also ISO 9001:2000 certified, ISO14001:2004 certified, UL certified, and CE certified. Safety approvals with ROHS, as the base standards to ensure high reliability, high efficiency (95%), high power factor (99%), high waterproof level (IP67-IP68) and longer lifetime (50000Hs.).

Q: What kind of light control does Orphek products has?
A: Orphek Light Solutions are not controlled by Dim because we learned that it shortens the LED life. Orphek uses two high quality digital timers with battery backup. One timer to control daylight, one timer to control the moonlight. Each one of them having a 16 memory programs, with the format hour/day/week. This way, our clients using more than one Orphek Light Solution can simulate sunrise and sunset.

Q: Why Orphek Light Solutions are so heavy?
A: Because good material are heavy. Orphek only uses high quality Aluminum heat sink to protect the LEDs. We also use a high quality thick acrylic board to protect the LEDs from water and humidity. Also, a good power supply is generally heavy. The weight of Orphek Light Solutions is 6KG and the total weight of the shipping package is 10KG.

Q: Does Orphek Light Solution come with a hanging kit?
A: YES.

Q: Can Orphek products rust?
A: NO. Designed with resistant aluminum and acrylic materials, Orphek Light Solutions are completely sealed not allowing any passage of water and protected against rust, shock and vibration.

Q: What if any of the LEDs, the power supply, or any other part of the Light needs to be replaced. Do I need to send the entire product by shipping in order to get it done?
A: NO. The power supply has plug in system, so it can be detached and sent to us. The Leds can also be replaced under our instructions.
