The Walther® G22 is a semi-automatic rifle chambered in the .22 Long Rifle cartridge. It has a bullpup design and is constructed of steel and polymer. The Walther® G22 features a reversible bolt to enable cartridge ejection from either side of the receiver. It cannot be fired from the off hand due to the proximity of the ejection port and bolt handle to the shooter's face. Held by friction, a spare magazine is stored inside the stock behind the magazine well.

The Walther® G22 rifle is capable of achieving shot groups as small as 0.25 inches (6.4 mm) at 55 yards (50 meters). From 500 feet away it is still possible to retain the same level of accuracy, especially when using a telescopic sight.

The Walther® G22 is generally used as a "fun gun" for civilian informal practice, and it comes in two colors, black and OD green. A scope can also be attached to make longer-range shots. Three Weaver rail mounts are present on the Walther® G22: the top handle scope mount, a small mount just below the muzzle intended for a Walther®-produced laser sight, and a longer mount under the forend for bipods, flashlights, etc.

Lightweight and compact, the Walther G22 takes the principles of Walther’s famed .22 caliber pistols and adapts them to rifle form. For the first time, Walther has incorporated the Bullpup design to a .22 rifle, giving the G22 its compact size. Both left and right-handed options are available. Other accessories including lasers, scopes, handles and bipods are also available.

• The Walther Safety Package provides a maximum degree of safety during use and when in storage. It consists of a slide safety, cocking indicator, magazine safety and integral lock to protect against unauthorized use.
