Model 4137 is an HP Fiber to RS-232 Converters used to connect fiber optic linked terminals to a controller having an RS-232 interface port. This Network Converter allows interference-free fiber optical transfer to data to an RS232 interface.

Model 4137 Interface Converter Application:
The HP VersaLink Fiber to RS232 Converters are used to connect fiber optic linked terminals to a controller having an RS-232 interface port. While RS-232 is a versatile communication standard, conversion to a fiber optic communication standard also allows data transmission that is no longer susceptible to electrostatic or electromagnetic fields. Additionally, the ports of the connected terminals are protected from damage by potential differences (ground variatons) that often exist between them.

Allows the interference-free fiber optical transfer of data to be utilized by the device having an RS-232 interface.
Data transfer rate greater than 120 Kbps (enhanced RS-232).
Fibre connections via two standard Versatile Link connectors.
Configurable for use at DCE or DTE (specify with order).
