Research of visible characteristics of the ship shows this photo may have been taken between late 1930s to early 1940s.

The USS Arkansas (BB-33) was one of the oldest battleships to serve in World War Two. 562 feet long, weighing 27,000 tons, armed with twelve 12 inch guns. A Dreadnought era battleship and was sunk in postwar weapons tests.
Laid down on January 25 1910 at Camden, N.J., by the New York Shipbuilding Co. She was launched on January 14 1911; commissioned at the Philadelphia Navy Yard on September 17 1912 with Capt. Roy C. Smith in command.
